John Mackay

John Mackay Partner & Co-Chairman

John’s longstanding experience in capital markets in London has positioned him well to assist with business development initiatives and management at SP Angel. John previously worked at Merrill Lynch for 10 years after obtaining an MBA at INSEAD in 1986. He then spent 5 years at HSBC, departing as Deputy CEO of the Investment Banking Division to become Chief Executive of Seymour Pierce, during which Seymour Pierce acted as Nomad and Broker for over 100 AIM admissions. At SP Angel he has focused in the Real Estate and Natural Resources sectors, having advised both publicly listed and privately owned companies on strategic transactions, IPOs and fundraisings.

Laura Harrison

Laura Harrison CEO

Laura joined SP Angel in 2012 and became CEO in October 2023. She has over 20 years’ experience of advising and working closely with small and mid-cap companies across a range of sectors. During her career, Laura has had exposure to many facets of the business including 12 years in Corporate Finance working on numerous IPOs, Main Market listings, RTOs and financial restructurings alongside general client advisory work. Most recently Laura has been focused on risk management, compliance and providing input and expertise to the Corporate Finance department at SP Angel. Laura started her career at Collins Stewart on the small cap sales and research desk and was the instrumental in the establishment of the corporate broking and investor relations team, and then spent six years at Fairfax I.S. Plc before joining SP Angel.

Laura has a degree in Chemistry from King’s College London.

John Meyer

John Meyer Partner & Head of Research

John is an expert in the mining sector with extensive knowledge of all parts of the industry, supported by a keen understanding of macro trends and risk factors that enable him to identify successful business opportunities. He is known for his analyses of smaller mining companies (precious, base and specialty metals, non-metals, rare earths, coal, iron ore and services) and for guiding these businesses through the marketplace and accessing funding sources, to achieve their strategic goals.

John has been ranked No. 1 UK Small Cap Metals and Mining Analyst eight time during his career and was ranked No. 1 Analyst for all UK smaller companies in 2006. John has worked for a number of leading securities firms, building mining teams at three firms. John has also previously worked at Goldman Sachs, SocGen, and Montagu Mining Finance, a specialist mining finance project group.

Ewan Leggat

Ewan Leggat Partner / Managing Partner

As a Partner at SP Angel, Ewan is primarily focused on business development and the provision of corporate finance advice to SP Angel clients. Whilst Ewan is best known as a specialist in the mining sector, he has a broad range of sector and transaction experience, including IPOs, M&A and equity financing.

Ewan previously led the Nomad and Corporate Finance function at SP Angel, having successfully transferred a team of people and clients to SP Angel in 2012, establishing SP Angel as a Nomad firm.

Prior to joining SP Angel, Ewan spent six years in Corporate Finance at Fairfax I.S. Plc, where he helped to establish the general equities and mining business, and subsequently headed up the corporate finance side of the equities business. Before that, Ewan spent a year with US Broker, Stifel Nicolaus and five years at Seymour Pierce. Ewan has a degree in law and a diploma in legal practice from the University of Glasgow and worked as an international tax consultant at Deloitte for several year prior to his career in corporate finance.

Jeff Keating

Jeff has over 30 years corporate finance experience in both the public and private markets advising on IPOs, secondary fundraisings, M&A and private equity transactions, and providing guidance to growing companies. Jeff has previously worked at Singer Capital Markets (as Joint Head of Corporate Finance), Landsbanki Securities / Teather & Greenwood (including roles as Joint Head and Head of Corporate Finance), and at Smith and Williamson where he was a corporate finance partner for twelve years. He has a degree in Banking and Finance and qualified as a chartered accountant with Ernst & Whinney. Jeff has undertaken expert witness work in relation to AIM and is currently a member of the London Stock Exchange’s AIM Advisory Group.

Richard Parlons

Richard Parlons Partner & Co-Head of Sales

Richard joined SP Angel in October 2012 to lead the firm’s equity sales operation, having been at Fairfax I.S. Plc since February 2010, bringing a wealth of experience in raising funds in the small and mid-cap sector. Richard started his institutional career at ING Barings before moving to Corporate Synergy where he helped grow the small cap franchise and was involved in numerous placings and IPOs. Richard then similarly worked on a number of transactions at Libertas Capital, followed by a short spell at Novus Capital. Richard strives to maintain strong relationships with UK institutional clients, hedge funds, VCT’s and private client brokers.

Robert Wooldridge

Robert Wooldridge Partner

Rob was a founding partner of SP Angel in 2006 and served as CEO to September 2023. He has 30 years’ investment banking experience advising clients across a range of industries and geographies. Prior to setting up SP Angel, he was Managing Director at HSBC Investment Bank responsible for the International Equity Capital Markets operation. Rob qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PwC and has a degree in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University.
